    Supper

First pizza in a while. I'm a little out of practice and forgot to turn it halfway through baking. Also, my yeast is dead, but somehow the crust still came out fine. With leeks, morel mushrooms, green olives and a parmesan bechamel that needed more butter.

Neither did his ex-wife - I just emailed her the review.

The food sounds very good to me, but everything else sounds very not good - no menus on the website, pate arriving unbidden, no way to reserve but to call (I don't like not being able to prove I have a reservation). It's all very clubby.
  6. No problem, I have a nice homemade loaf in the freezer.
  7. This is why I carry ketchup and hot sauce in my purse. You never know when someone's gonna get the bright idea to charge for them.
  8. It's a little shocking, to be honest.
  9. Gage & Tollner's Restaurant Week lunch is two courses for $45. https://www.gageandtollner.com/gage-and-tollner-menus/#restaurant-week-2024 Gage & Tollner's non-Restaurant Week lunch is three courses for $41. https://www.gageandtollner.com/gage-and-tollner-menus/#lunch This seems odd.

    Supper

First borscht of the season! Note fashionable asymmetric plating. Also beet greens made into a sort of oshitashi, except with dressing I made a few days ago, and I kind of forget what's in it. Definitely mayo, yogurt and...other stuff.

I need that sweater very badly.
  12. The turnover in there is crazy. Then again, I can see insanely expensive vintage clothing not having much staying power. Thanks for the warning. I will endeavor to retain my usual zen-like calm.
  13. Someone gave me one not more than a month ago! But thank you so much!
  14. They went out months ago. Check your spam folder.
  15. Say you're chatting with the person helping you design your wedding invitations, and you tell her the guest list is ~75 people, so you probably need like 90 invitations in case you spill wine on some of them or whatever. And it is not until hours later - while you are in the post office deciding what kind of stamps to put on the envelopes - that it occurs to you that a lot of those people share addresses. And you do not, in fact, need 90 invitations. You are thankful this happened now, and not after you put the order in.

    Supper

Gotta stay current! Or what the NYT thinks is current, which gives me some time. Meanwhile, my distressingly centered dinner of lohikietto and salad with blue cheese vinaigrette.
  18. Saltburn. That is one deeply silly movie.

    Supper

Clearly, I need to up my plating game. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/08/dining/restaurant-plating-trends.html
  20. Well, now I want to see it. Don't bother with Good Grief. It is, as the kids say, mid.
  21. Why?
  22. When I first heard about this (that article is a few weeks old), I immediately decided it would be better with Cheetos. But so would everything. Caviar / cocaine bump?

    Supper

We stayed home and had fancyfood: crab legs, oysters, caviar, etc. I made blini, which turned out to be a great way to use up the teff I have left over from my adventures in injera. There's leftover crab and caviar (and still more teff!), so tonight I think I'll do it all again.
  24. That's some aggressive alt-texting! Somehow reminds me of this: https://observer.com/2014/03/park-slope-kiddie-shop-hunts-for-owner-of-lulus-anal-bleaching-wifi/
