Hinds (Best active band in the world)

That is going to be amazing live. So quiet, then so loud. "Doo doo doo doo doo doo..." yes, catchy too.

And back to the four piece in the video for the first time since the rhythm section changed.

Much as I admire “Superstar,” consideration of the lyrics makes me think it’s a very angry and bitter attack on someone and we can guess who that is. Maybe deserved but kind of sad.

ETA Yes, looks like Hinds and previous bassist Ade are firing back at each other.

This morning my social feed delivered a clip of them playing “Good Times, Bad Times” at a recent concert and I had that in my head for a couple of hours until I gave up and played the album.

Also reels of the thing they do now where Carlotta sits on Ana’s shoulders to play a guitar solo. Ana is physically imposing. I need to ask her how tall she is as I can’t see that online.

Twenty minutes ago the new song was released. The last few releases have been so different; this one will make you smile. A short, poppy love song that sounds like Mazzy Star if Mazzy Star rocked out. And such a cute video.

You know, for the first time in ages -- I have no idea why -- I pulled out the first Zep album.

And you know what?  First the first time ever in my life, I kind of enjoyed it.

It did get kind of tiresome before it ended, though.

Good Times Bad Times is worth the price of admission for me. Some of my favorite Page playing ever. That little Supro amp maxed out with a Tele sounding so good.

Like the singing.  Hate the hamhandedness.  Like that they didn’t in the least pretend they weren’t white boys.

Ooof. The singing like a cat with it's tail caught in a screendoor and the junior high poetry lyrics are just awful-- the worst part of the band for me. I think they made no secret of being white. Especially in concert when people saw them. I'm glad they didn't pretend like so many others. The oft-praised soulless others.....

Since the sentence you were responding to was like a triple negative, I just want to make clear (in case it wasn't) that I agree with you completely.

Hopefully everyone reading along has pre-ordered “Viva Hinds,” the new album. Amazon tells me it will arrive on September 9, when I will be in Barcelona.

Obviously I am reluctant to mention my lifelong love affair with Barcelona to Ana, because she is from what Carlotta always describes as “a place called Madrid.”

Although, the Stones going to Muscle Shoals was good for them (I guess).

I think the Stones were doing something different.   They were like an ironic art project, where their awareness of the distance between what they were capable of and what their (patently superior) models were capable of was where the art reposed.  (Compare the recent Springsteen covers album, which as far as I’m concerned has no excuse for existing when the hugely superior originals are available.) (And wouldn’t you know it, most of the originals are by Black artists.  Wonder why Springsteen’s Rockist audience doesn’t listen to them?)

How about to make people more aware of the songs, so that they might want to go and listen to (or, god forbid, buy) the originals?

Maybe you don't know the true audience that well - is that possible?

I do think that performing alongside the artists that inspired them was a good move for the rock bands that were appropriating the blues and agree it did a lot to reignite (or even create) careers for a lot of those artists that had never made much money before. Fwiw.
