  1. I thought Palliative Care was great when my wife was getting it, and I think it's great now that I'm getting it.

  3. You can come up to the UWS. Or the spouse often goes to Boro Park. It's a boy's night out - they go these Russian places that are like going to churrascaria and then they buy their etrog and lulav. Maybe do a bit of shopping at one of the kosher markets which is open all night right before the holidays.

  4. I'm so glad he agreed to this. He'll get more intensive PT in-patient than if he were home and either had someone come to the house or go to an office. And you'll get a little break. BTW, I know it's really hard to accept help, but take it when offered and don't be afraid to ask. My friends brought us food, shlepped the boy to various practices, etc. It really made a difference.

  5. Those are the places with PR machines, ensuring they get press, and then influencers, and then followers of influencers.

  6. I wonder where you have to go now for your etrogs. Fine Fare probably doesn't carry them.

  8. @voyager I'm so glad he has agreed to get some help. You need some rest so you can recover, too! Don't be afraid to ask for help for yourself if you need it.

  9. A friend brought me a little steak pie, veggies and slice of chocolate cherry pie from a local Irish restaurant. I'll be eating well all week.

  12. chicken cacciatore - this version doesn’t contain any tomatoes. the meat is seasoned generously with salt and pepper and browned in lard, although you can substitute olive oil. then add garlic, rosemary, and anchovies; deglaze with white wine and vinegar; braise for one hour or until the meat falls off the bone. sautéed spinach italian fruit salad

  13. Yes, memories of this. Wasn’t there more than one location at one point? I remember the back of the bar one, and it was a bar that was not itself a destination. But an attempt in Manhattan too? I am having strong memories of taking my little daughter there with her Dominican family after a Martha Graham kiddies performance.

  14. Seen this? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11422728/ It takes place in 1969, but maybe close enough. It's excellent.

  15. Damn. Pearson's was great back in the day, and having to search for it in the back of a bar was kind of fun..

  16. No, here we drink one three ounce glass of wine with our plant based meal and that's why we live forever. But really, when was going to a 2-3 Michelin star place not a 3+ hour ordeal ending with being stuffed and drunk? Sure, you mostly ordered a la carte so you had the theoretical option to eat reasonably, but that was largely a theoretical option and I don't think it's an argument against the oppressive tasting menu format.

  17. "Sideways" is more than Pinot. Husband has had several strange not fully diagnosed episodes. This a.m. tested positive for covid. Checked myself -> so did i. zoom meeting coming up on the hour to discuss options. Most likely is home hospice. I need to get across that I can't handle him until he has enuf pt to take minimal care of himself, like get in and out of bed.

  18. My sister and a couple of friends have been on my case about not eating enough. I took the bull by the horns today. Before I left to visit my husband, I went online and ordered a bacon cheeseburger rare to pick up at 3. And since I had paid for it, I knew I would not change my mind because I wasn't hungry. So I came home and of course I wasn't hungry but made myself go get it. I took it all apart so the bun wouldn't get soggy. (I do not like burgers rare but ordered that way so it could stand up to reheating.) I heated half in the air fry of my toaster oven. The burger was OK, the fries were horrible. But my stomach is not happy.
