You would have loved the Forest Pork Store and the old Karl Ehmer stores, too. I didn't know you are moving to my neck of the woods. Forest Pork Store still exists, but their only retail is in Huntington. The factory is still in Ridgewood. There's a Net Cost in Rego Park, which is also a decent shop. Fantastic that it still exists but their Ridgewood location on Forest Ave is not open to the public anymore.
Sneakeater
SHIT. I was just IN Huntington, and it just didn't occur to me.
Sneakeater
Well, I wasn't really near their store, though.
Sneakeater
I am really not taking this Morscher's thing well.

Sneakeater
I don't think the Ridgewood Pork Store is materially healthier than Morscher's -- and it's less of a walk away, so I'll be losing exercise.
Sneakeater
If Sundownstairs and Trans-Pecos close, I really might kill myself.

I have been thinking about how much Mozart sausage could I store in my freezer, but really how much will they make and have to sell? I will go out there one more time and then I guess let go. Sneakeater
Saturday. When I spend the day getting the gas turned on at the new place. And right now I have TWO freezers! Edited January 19, 2024 by Sneakeater
Wilfrid
Oh jeez are we competing for the last of the sausage?

Sneakeater
Maybe there's A New Technology From Europe that can avoid the shutdown. Although this shutdown is less apocalyptic than the averted yearlong L shutdown would have been.
Sneakeater
This shows how important it is to get the Interborough Express on track.
Sneakeater
Morscher’s was no more of a clusterfuck than usual this morning. But the mood was elegiac I got one of what was announced as their last ever batch of smoked pig’s knuckles, right out of the smoker. And something I always meant to try that looks like a Mozartwurst on steroids. Edited January 20, 2024 by Sneakeater
Wilfrid
I need to get out there for some Mozart sausage at least.
Sneakeater
After spending the afternoon working on my new apartment yesterday, I took the stuff from Morscher's home in an insulated backpack I bought years ago especially for the purpose of getting stuff home from the Ridgewood pork stores (even if there was a long night at Trans-Pecos or Sundownstairs or H0l0 after the pork store). It occurs to me that I shall no longer need it. Edited January 21, 2024 by Sneakeater
Wilfrid
Aw c’mon, I still use those to haul stuff back from the good Netcosts or the hilariously misnamed NY Bread in Coney Island.

Sneakeater
But am I REALLY going to feel any need to schlep to Netco if I can walk a few blocks to the Ridgewood Pork Store? I'm not so sure about that. Edited January 22, 2024 by Sneakeater
Sneakeater
The Morscher's garlic headcheese I had for lunch today was just a poem, I tell you.
