It has the texture of al dente pasta. It tastes a a little salty and that’s about it. Anyone recognize it? Is it little tiny fish? I think I see eyes. Shirasu as you said, as opposed to chirimen Quote

Orik Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 They really don't last once defrosted so they're not going to become any more appealing... Quote
small h Posted November 10, 2024 Author Posted November 10, 2024 I might pitch them. They were free, after all. Quote

voyager Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Er, I am the only diner to turn down angulas at Etxebarri. My loss, so I was told. Quote

small h Posted November 11, 2024 Author Posted November 11, 2024 At this point I'm worried that it's not even good anymore. I don't want to poison anyone. There's a lively exchange in my coop, and I've both given and got a fair amount. It's always kind of hilarious what people will try to sell. Like, one person offers a free monitor 'cause Amazon sent them two by mistake. Meanwhile, another person is asking $50 for a pair of used shoes. Quote
bloviatrix Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 We could have a whole thread about Buy Nothing Groups. And as crazy as the things some people offer is that there are takers! Quote
relbbaddoof Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Nextdoor just got its moment in the sun, or at least in Shouts and Murmurs. Perhaps its time for Buy Nothing. Quote

True, but we've also gotten some amazing "gifts", including an Insta-Pot, this expensive tea blend from Bellocq, and homemade Diwali sweets. I've given away everything from clothes that don't fit me anymore to a gaming chair. Edited November 11, 2024 by StephanieL Quote
small h Posted November 11, 2024 Author Posted November 11, 2024 I woke up Wednesday morning running through a list of possible countries we could move to. And then I looked around at how much crap was have, and I started panicking about being trapped here. I may be spending a lot of time on Buy Nothing, going forward. 1 Quote
bloviatrix Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 I keep seeing a commercial for the perfume Coco de Chanel. I'm convinced that the music used is a riff on Pulp's Common People. Has anyone else picked up on this? (They just showed the spot on the Giants game) Quote

small h Posted December 21, 2024 Author Posted December 21, 2024 I have a run-of-the-mill bathroom scale that has worked reasonably well for the decade or so I've had it. Yesterday when I stepped onto it, it made a crunching sound, as if it were full of twigs and pebbles all of a sudden. And it's knocked 30 lbs off my weight. Anyone know what happened to it? 1 Quote
small h Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 (edited) Anyone remember a cocktail bar on the LES that would make bespoke cocktails - you'd tell them your preferred spirit, and your preferences, and they would make you something? It's been closed probably ten years already. I feel like it was East Side Company Bar on Essex south of Grand. Edited January 15 by small h Quote
small h Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 Yes, but it’s still open. I’m 99% sure it was ESCB. Quote
MitchW Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Any good bartender should be able to do that, no? Perhaps Painkiller, which was located where The Pickle Guys once were. Quote
MitchW Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Actually, doing a little looking up, I guess PKNY opened where East Side Company Bar once was as well. Quote
small h Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 Yep. I got confused and thought, must be ESCB, but that was a tiki place. Mais non! It became a tiki place, Painkiller. Now it's, what, East Side Vape Pens and Lottery Tickets? Quote
Wilfrid Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Milk & Honey did that too, pre-Attaboy, he commented irrelevantly. Quote
