hollywood
So Tom Brady has bumped Greg Olsen off the number 1 analyst perch at Fox. He has a 10 year contract for $375 million. Will he really do this for 10 years? Can he outshine Romo? Or Aikman? Or Collinsworth? Or, when he retires, Kelce?
MitchW
Olsen is very good. Romo’s a dope. But I guess people like listening to him due to how excited he gets. The less said about Collinsworth, the better. Troy is the best of the bunch.
hollywood
Yesterday I saw a Subaru with a bumper sticker that touted Mahomes for President.

Mahomes earns more than that like every quarter he plays.
backyardchef
Are there any sportsball games this weekend?
Wilfrid
I believe there is a game where I don’t care who wins with a halftime show featuring someone who was huge 20 years ago.

hollywood
Russell Wilson is going to the Steelers on a one year contract. Is there a possible redemption story?
Mitchell101
And it looks like Kirk Cousins is on his way to earning more money playing in the NFL than any player in history..... He must have some agent! I feel bad about Saquon leaving the Giants but it is just too much money to be paying an aging running back. They just (ok, an hour ago) had a big argument about that on WFAN...callers weren't happy that the hosts feel the Giants got way better because of who they were able to pick up. There was no way they were going to match the Eagles' offer; money better spent elsewhere.
Anthony Bonner
its the smartest thing the giants have done in years. The eagles are in win now mode - it might might make sense for them. there is no way it makes sense for the Giants whose current team is at best third in the division and a marginal wild card team when they have a third place schedule. hollywood
So new NFL kickoff return rules. Will they make for more scores and fewer injuries? 32 special teams coaches are trying to game it out. Will the NCAA follow suit?

I think it'll add some excitement back into kickoff returns, which had fallen to an all-time low. And hopefully, reduce injuries during those plays. hollywood
There is an overlap between preseason second and third tier announcers and certain political pundits holding forth on the election. Lots of talk but not much substance.
MitchW
I don’t even think that’s limited to preseason.
Wilfrid
Another one of those completely uncompetitive Super Bowls and we've had a few over the years. Anyone other than Eagles fans gripped by it? I was surprised the Chiefs offense was disabled so early and decisively, but I'm no expert. Highlight, Jon Batiste's New Orleans piano national anthem. bloviatrix
The arrangement of America, The Beautiful was also good. It was stunning the extent to which the Eagles dominated and manhandled the Chiefs.
small h
We were happy about it. The Chiefs knocked the Bills out, so obviously we can't root for them, especially since my BIL is from Philadelphia.

small h
Same, and also the collective pearl-clutching, akin to the collective pearl-clutching after Beyonce's halftime show.
Wilfrid
I was puzzled enough by the hapless breakdown of the Chiefs that I listened to Hill and Phillips talk about, but I am not sure I came away any wiser.
