Reasons to be Cheerful

Recommended Posts

A few months ago I broke a jug that had been in my family for years. And broke it badly. I have periodically looked into getting it repaired but the estimates were daunting.

It finally dawned on me that, as it’s an old but well-known design, I could replace it and transfer my memories to the new jug. Happy with that decision.

No doubt a difficult but IMHO a very healthy decision.   I am unequaled in beating myself up over monetarily inconsequential but sentimental lost or broken items.

I was exchanging books at my library tonight (nysoclib.org) and there was a greeting party for new members. I am not a new member. The head librarian caught me trying to leave and ordered me upstairs to tell new members how great the place is. I did talk it up to three of them, which earned me my plastic cup of wine. ❤️

It has been a while since I've turned on my Merlin Bird ID app. Yesterday was warm enough that I could be outside for more than 5 seconds, so while I was clearing snow and ice on the deck, I turned it on. So rewarding to hear all my birdie buddies.

Well 2024 was one of the worst years for me (as it seemed to be for several of you here on MF as well) with a bunch of family health issues and I'm committed to turning it around in 2025. Off to Burgundy and Paris tomorrow for a week, 12 days in New Orleans for Jazzfest in April, Scotland for a week golfing in July and a wedding in Piedmont to attend in the fall. Fingers crossed.......
