Crowdstrike's problem has totally hosed Delta's operations. My upcoming Tuesday-Thursday trip, barring a miracle, is a goner. The "good" news is, I went through DL's last meltdown in 2016. And knew their beyond ancient IT system would be a disaster. Booked a backup on AAnother Airline. Delta has had 1205 cancellations/1709 delays. American-76 cancelled/1605 delays. At least I have chance 🫰🙏

Fortunately, both of N's Delta flights were only delayed by about an hour.  She had built in a very long connection time, so she was still OK.

I suspect a gout attack in one of my small toes, which is weird, but gives me an opportunity to visit my dear and lovely podiatrist. I am wondering if I will find her pregnant because I know she was trying, an indication of the really unusually close relationship I have with my podiatrist. Roads not taken.

Between that, and a new song from the you know who's, this is gonna be a helluva week for you.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had half of my beautiful home grown tomato left so decided to make a BLT for supper last night. My bacon from the freezer had been in there too long--freezer burn. I went ahead and used it. Bacon was dreadful, bread was stale and I felt like I wasted that wonderful tomato. Harumph.

Edited to say that I am going to clean out the freezers this week!

I'm on week 4 of living with an 11 year old. Kids are not all they're cracked up to be.

Try having one around for 56 years.    They may be out of the house but never out of mind or concern.😕

Glad I made the choice I did not to have one. I'd say one to take care of me in my old infirm age would be nice, but I don't think you can count on that, so I'll muddle through.

banking on your kid to take care of you in your golden years is really a total crap shoot.

After three heatwaves (official!) I spent money on my AC situation.

I sit here tonight, AC off, quite cold and wondering about a sweater.

In a sad irony I realized I had dumped the sweater I wore this morning on top of the unused AC. I put a heavy comforter back on the bed last night. And I don’t see any plausible beach days left in the calendar as I have a couple of trips coming up.

I have almost forgotten how very hot…it was.
