Sneakeater Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I really like GP. But I like the other GP a lot more. Quote
Anthony Bonner Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 It's true. "The Glove" is the greatest defensive point guard in NBA history. And a hell of a smack talker. Quote

MitchW Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 (edited) Yeah, too bad his genius got cut so short. Edited August 2, 2024 by MitchW Quote
Sneakeater Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 (edited) Actually, as horrible as it is to say, I'm sure I'd have a higher opinion of this thread's GP (much as a like him as it is) if he had gone to an English national park and ended his life (and recording career) after Squeezing Out Sparks. I mean don't get me wrong: I'm glad he didn't. (I do wish the Stones had broken up after Some Girls, though. No deaths necessary.) Edited August 3, 2024 by Sneakeater Quote
Sneakeater Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 (edited) Now you've got me listening incessantly to the Three Great Albums (first second and fourth duh) incessantly. Thanks. I guess. Edited August 3, 2024 by Sneakeater 1 Quote

Sneakeater Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Let's face it, artists are the LAST people you should listen to about their work. Quote

hollywood Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 I have it on pretty good authority that Beyonce is in the building. 1 Quote

bloviatrix Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 I really think Pier 17 is one of the best venues in the city. We saw Crowded House on Wednesday and it was great. The opening band - Michigander wasn't bad. Quote
plattetude Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 I was there! Agreed. Pier 17 is pretty great, at least when the weather is perfect. And it was a great show, though I think they kept themselves from being too freewheeling thanks to the 10pm hard curfew at the venue. Quote

MitchW Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Central Park Summerstage earlier this week (with a harvest moon!)... Who knew I'd like Boy George, but his band was great, his voice was great; his selection of covers wasn't bad either, with Walk on the Wild Side, You Can't Always Get What You Want, Purple Rain. As they like to do now, especially for summer shed dates, it was a co-headlining tour. With one of my favorite "bands," Squeeze. Squeeze is in about their millionth iteration; obviously, Glenn (an underrated guitarist, in my opinion) and Chris are Squeeze, and they just offer a great time. Quote
small h Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 I saw Squeeze at a free Bryant Park show - Porch something? Something porch? - years ago, and they were pretty great. You forget how many Squeeze songs you know. Quote
