bloviatrix
So yesterday I was Cheerful. But today, I'm very sore and achy.
Wilfrid
I have been depressed and traumatized by stuff for 24 hours, including not least being bounced out of bed at 3.20 am by fierce arthritis pain in my ankle.

Just hurts enough to be annoying. The physio is working for the shoulder, which is good because I can’t help being aware that the cost of each session is a fancy restaurant dinner. Not like four star. If only it was beer and a shot.

At least to a certain extent, like where the cost of each session only meant giving up dinner at Wu's.

StephanieL
The woman who works on the other side of my cubicle decided to come into work yesterday with a cold, and not wearing a mask either. I only found this fact out 3 hours after I'd arrived. She's here today too. Unfortunately, her boss is working remotely permanently from the East Coast and can't really oversee her as well as she should. Evelyn
I have had a tech annoyance streak so far this week. First I dropped my iphone. The screen didn't crack. And the phone still worked. But there was a very bright white line from the top of the screen to the bottom. And, of course, in a spot where it was impossible to see things like one time codes etc. It could be fixed for a little over $300. Good because I've been waiting for the next iphone. It took about 2 hours for the repair. It was eyeopening to see how much I really on the phone. Simple things like being able to check the time, in addition to all the "normal" stuff. Then this morning my laptop decided it wanted to die. The "good" news was I have been on top of backups. And the replacement computer I was considering actually was on sale today. A large dent to my wallet. And dealing with the aggravation of migrating the data over. But, at least everything appears to have made it to the new one. There will definitely be an extended cocktail hour tonight. 1

Sneakeater
My laptop didn't even decide it wanted to die (although it was trending in that direction). I had to replace it recently when it turned out that the most recent OS it would support wouldn't support this year's TurboTax. Annoying.
voyager
Our son is our IT. He tells us when it's time to upgrade to new hardware. Usually he has something shipped from the famous NYC camera shop, but last laptop I didn't want to wait, so toddled down to the Union Square Apple store and told dude what I wanted. He sized me up, an old lady in jeans and jacket and tells me I only need an ipad. I tell him that I came for a laptop to replace my 4th generation laptop, and he tells me I should buy an ipad. i asked him if another associate would perhaps fill my order and he finally brought me my new machine. Our son was livid, ranting that if this guy had any clue the use I put my laptop to he wouldn't have been so condescending, but madder that he was judgemental and condescending to begin with. Moral: define your needs early enough to have delivered from the famous NYC camera shop.
Wilfrid
I need to upgrade my desktop. I am running some prehistoric version of Windows, but I can't download a newer version on this PC.
maison rustique
I hate getting new PCs. Well, I love having a new one, I just hate having to set it all up and transfer everything. There are at least 3 laptops in my husband's office that I need to try to go through and get all the photos and files from them before I wipe them and ditch them. I dread it. Wilfrid
Had a meeting on Wall Street after which I decided to Uber over to City Vineyard to enjoy a cocktail while watching the sun sparkle on the river. Thunderstorm.

My body won’t let me celebrate: gives me three days of arthritis in my foot. Some time in the next couple of days I will be Pain Free. How long, who knows? small h
I would like to be pain free. The best I get is mostly pain free. Like now, I'm sitting here quietly and the only thing that hurts is my arthritic right ring finger. I guess that's not so bad.
MitchW
We both had Covid vaccinations (Spikevax) yesterday (being of a certain age, following the 6-month guideline, traveling at the end of the month, and going to a destination wedding next month) and for the first time, the classic malaise, headaches and general icky feeling has happened. small h
For the first time! You're lucky. After dose #2 I had to spend the day in bed.
mongo
i had appreciable side effects for the first time in december, when i took a booster 3 weeks before leaving for my off-campus program. i put it down to the fact that it was my first moderna shot, after god-knows-how-many pfizers. also had the nastiest site soreness across all the shots. thing i will soon be annoyed about: side effects of my second shingles vaccine. it is due. the first was innocuous. i'm told the second is usually much worse.
