...Even the wikipedia-like web sites talk about their use for rheumatoid arthritis. .... Unfortunately for those of us with other arthritises (is that a word?), these meds dont work....

i have no idea what is at play.    During January visit, my ortho guy said these all were "garden variety arthritis, not rheumatoid.   Tests by hand specialist agreed with this.   So why this med is the first to provide any relief is quite an enigma (to me).    Not arguing, however, so long as it's working.

hydroxychloroquine helps reduce inflammation. things people are usually told to avoid are alcohol and sun exposure.  it can also cause muscle weakness and pain, if you experience those tell your doc. regular checks by the ophthalmologist on your retina health are important. it's a nice drug that can have some funky side affects or none at all. remember when trump told people to take it for covid creating a severe shortage of the drug? caused huge problems for the lupus community

@StephanieL, I Googled and that cake looks great. Is yours a recipe you've made before? Willing to share? It sounds like a great summery dessert or snack cake.

I'd never made it before, but I'm not willing to share the recipe because that particular version is a bit of a dud.  It doesn't have any salt--I added 1/2 tsp. and that seems to work--and it didn't provide a measurement for vanilla extract, just "to taste".  I'd love to make that cake again, but will find another recipe.

It always happens on the weekend.  There's about a 10 inch cone hanging down from the ceiling in the laundry area.  It's slowly dripping room temperature water into a container below.  Will the dripping continue all night?  Will the cone burst like some pustule?  Have to call the plumber in the morning.  Hope he's not on vacation. 🤞

Thank you.

The plumber came.  He lanced the pustule.  I have a leak in the cold water line.  So he will return tomorrow and with some difficulty replace part of the pipe.  That will hopefully resolve the issue.

Someone working in the yard of the property behind us reached over the fence to cut down N's elderberry bush.  A whole year's worth of crop is lost.  We don't know who owns the space or even who lives there, so N just put up a trellis and a "No Trespassing" sign.  On the latter, she wrote "Please don't cut the elderberries" in English and Spanish.  Hopefully, that won't happen again.

I can understand how angry you and N must be. I get annoyed when deer come along and devour all our daylilies. But for a human to purposely destroy a bush that doesn’t belong to them is disgraceful!

Sitting here with covid, but I hope it won't be long
Well, it's putting up resistance
But I know my meds will lead me on

Oh, no! On top of the plumbing crap! Interesting that you are (I think) the third person in the lasts 2 days who has said they have it. Step-daughter in Oakland is suffering with it, too. I hope this isn't a sign that it is ramping up again. I still mask up when I go out--especially to the assisted living facility--everyone there coughs constantly.

Get well soon!

It's going strong in NV. So far I have avoided it. I have also been traveling a lot. Back forth mostly to the Southeast. Connecting through ATL, SLC and DTW. I have noticed many more people are masking up all over. And many more than last year doing so on airplanes. I have also noticed a lot of news coverage about the latest variant in all the places I have been.

When I went to see the husband the other day, I just happened to see a note on the reception desk about a Meet & Greet with their new medical group. I feel like changing physicians and medical care warrants a phone call or at least an email rather than a casual flyer on the front desk that no one I asked seemed to know anything about.

The Meet & Greet is today (not much notice about it) and I will go. I looked up the medical corporation (because they are a national corporation) and it sounds like their focus is on telemedicine which I can't imagine how that is supposed to work with memory care residents who have no computers or phones. I will have many questions for them. I do not think a change of doctors for someone with dementia is going to go very smoothly.
